I’m always reminded of the late Marc Andreeson.
I remember when he wrote his book, The Fourth Technological Revolution, in 2001.
He wrote that the Internet was the most powerful new technology in human history.
The Internet had created a new type of communications system.
But as he wrote, the Internet had also changed the way we communicate, and that was a big problem for the rest of us.
Now we have to figure out what we’re going to do about it.
The problem is, as I see it, there is no new technology that will solve this problem.
The only solution is to think about what you are going to put on your shoulders.
That’s the only way to go forward, he wrote.
And it’s hard.
There is no doubt in my mind that if we don’t solve the problem of how to organize the information that is going to be created in the future, the next generation will be stuck with the same problems as we are today.
There are no new technological breakthroughs that will transform this world.
And that’s the big problem we face, I say.
