Robbie Keane is the first player in Brisbane Roars history to score a goal in a Brisbane Roarse, his first ever goalscorer.
The 27-year-old, who has scored just once this season, was named in the Socceroos squad for the friendly against Belgium at the Gabba on Saturday, and made his debut in the 3-1 victory.
“We’re very proud of Robbie Keane and he’s a player that’s shown the world that he’s capable of doing things,” Roar boss John Aloisi said.
We have a number of players here that can do that, and we’re proud of that.””
So we’re very happy with the way he’s performing this year.”
We have a number of players here that can do that, and we’re proud of that.
“It’s the third time this season Keane has scored for Brisbane, the first time in 2017 and the second time in 2018.
The midfielder is currently on a one-year deal with Brisbane after signing a one year extension in 2016.
He scored a brace in his first international appearance in February, when he also played a pivotal role in Brisbane’s 2-0 victory over the Netherlands.
Keane is set to be on loan until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent return at the end for 2018.
He has scored 23 goals in 101 internationals for the Netherlands, which won the European Championships with two bronze medals, and is also a member of the Asian Champions League.
