My top five skincare tips to have your skin glithening*

  1. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate
I do this every day in the morning and sometimes when I get home from work as the London Underground is so dirty. I have been using Lush Dark Angels face mask for over three months, I love this face mask because it contains all natural ingredients, lightly exfoliates away all the dead skin cells and blackheads and the activated charcoal helps keep my oily skin balanced. Scrub it on, I usually leave it for a while whilst I shower then rinse it off with warm water and boom… beautiful skin. You can buy this face mask here.

  2. Creaming (aka moisturising)
For the past three years the only cream that I have used on my face and body is virgin coconut oil. I know what you’re thinking “won’t this make my face oily” for me the answer is no, in fact using coconut oil daily has helped to balance out my skin as before you could fry an egg on my T zone it was so oily. I swear by this stuff, the elixir of life, nectar of Aphrodite honestly, truly. The only coconut oil I use is from Coconut Merchant and you can buy it here. Coconut Merchant tend to do deals on Groupon in order for you to save some £££ (thank me later).

  3. Hydration is key
I drink 1.5L + of filtered water everyday. I stress the word filtered as two and half years ago I stopped drinking tap water. It’s just not for me at all. Don’t you find it strange how every now and then there are health warnings in the news about contamination of public water supplies? Say no to the government juice ladies and gents keep that third eye calcium free

  4. Pimple Popper
Now this tip is a bit leave it, I wouldn’t suggest that you all follow this tip but it definitely works for me. I cannot stand having spots on my face, so once they’re ready they’re gone!

  5. Breathe
I wear makeup probably 2 out of 7 days, this usually consists of eyebrows, mascara and lipstick, I very rarely wear foundation and if I do it’s on a rare occasion where I come out of hibernation on the weekend. To be honest it’s not because I am against make up, it’s mostly because I am so lazy that I cannot even be bothered. On a typical day I wake up, exfoliate my face, cream and I am out the door.

  6. Self-love
(I know the title says five but bear with me) my final and most important tip is to love the skin you are in. When you learn to love yourself in all its natural glory these positive internal feelings reflect and vibrate as a glistening exterior (law of attraction babes). You are beautiful.

*this is not a typo. Roll safe.

If you know me you will know I am obsessed with coconut oil, I use it every day in my hair, on my skin, as mouthwash, I’ve even used it to clear random skin rashes and to heal minor cuts. I am also very much into a natural lifestyle, in the past I’ve made my own toothpaste, deodorant, hair moisturiser, face scrub and most importantly lip balm.

I initially started making my own lip balm as I was having severe allergic reactions to commonly used lip balms such as Carmex, Vaseline and Nivea (think Pete Burns). After trial and error for around two years and having roped in my sister as my Guinea Pig the idea to start my own natural cosmetics line literally popped into my head.

Four months later and I am now in the initial stages of starting my own natural cosmetics line called 'cocolem’. I came up with the name as all cocolem products will benefit from the nutrients and minerals of two super foods: coconut oil and lemons.

cocolem will focus on developing handmade natural, organic cosmetics including lip balms, lip scrubs and face scrubs eventually developing into a wider range of products include hair, health and beauty.

Our first products will focus on keeping your pouts in check, think moisturising lip balms and exfoliating lip scrubs. All four products will be cruelty free (tested on friends and family), organic and handmade. They will also be suitable for both vegetarians and for vegans.

I am very passionate about cocolem and developing organic products that genuinely work without the need to use random chemicals that I can hardly pronounce let alone know for sure what adverse effects they are having on my body externally or internally.

I could go on for ages but I’ll let the products speak for themselves.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I am excited for you to try the products, and for cocolem to continue to grow and flourish, the brand has already received so much love and I am looking forward to receiving much more.

You can purchase your own vegan or vegetarian lip balm on our Etsy UK shop.

First car post - introducing Fabio the Fiat 500 Eco

It’s been two years since I first passed my driving test, well 1 year 11 months and two days. After many stressed public transport trips, countless awkward silence taxi journeys and after many missed day/nights out due to cars being full I decided it was time for me to get my own car.

Since the first pastel colours were released to the summer colours released in 2014, my car of choice was the Fiat 500. Why simply because they are small, cute and I loved the fact that you can customise them.

I visited three Motorvogue Fiat dealerships: Dunstable, Milton Keynes and Northampton. My first experience at the Dunstable dealership was good I test drove the basic Pop version and was quoted initial prices as I wanted to finance the car. As I love a bargain I then decided to visit the MK dealership to see if I could get a better monthly price- this is where sh!t went west. The male seller was rude, ignorant and frankly I believe he tried to take advantage with his pricings. Long story short I left very quickly.

Our third trip to the Northampton dealership was amazing. We were greeted by saleswoman Dawn, offered hot and cold drinks and shown around. I immediately spotted a cute mint pastel colour Fiat 500 Lounge with cream interior. As you will soon come to realise I live in black, the common phrase “if they made a darker colour than black I would wear it” applies to my life, so the mint green was a hell no!

After many negotiations and online warehouse searches, a black Fiat 500 Lounge Eco was at the main holding site and could arrive within a matter of weeks (it was destiny). The monthly payment worked out to be cheaper than I thought thanks to a discount and after a quick debrief call to my sister, the car had been ordered. Thanks to Dawn’s patience, knowledge of the Fiat brand and helpful nature I left the Motorvogue Northampton dealership feeling happy that I had made the right decision for me. If you live in the surrounding areas I would 100% recommend going to see Dawn- the follow up customer care has been amazing as well!

Around one month later I went to pick up my car at the Bedford branch. He has since been named Fabio and I could not be happier with my first car. The annual insurance is cheap (less than £800) and I do not have to pay road tax as the car is incredibly Eco friendly (it’s taken me around 100 miles to get used to the start stop function though!). Also with £20 of petrol I am nearly on a full tank!.
Personally for a first car it’s amazing, easy to drive, cheap to run and did I mention it’s so cute.
